GEM Essentials lawn care program
Weekly mowing, the full turf program, seasonal cleanup and mulch, with one person keeping an eye on all of it. The foundation of a well-kept property.
One plan, one crew, one person to call
Most families we meet have tried juggling a mowing company, a fertilizer company and someone for the beds. GEM Essentials replaces all three. It's the lawn care service St. Louis homeowners choose when they want the yard handled every week without having to check on it.
GEM stands for Garden and Estate Management, our maintenance programs. Quiet Village has been looking after St. Louis properties since 2001, and Essentials is where most of them start.
What's included in GEM Essentials
From $69.99 a week
Your price depends on lot size and beds. We confirm it at the assessment, before anything starts.
Best for: busy households on a quarter to three quarter acre who want the lawn and beds handled without managing anyone.
Weekly lawn care that creates confidence
The same crew comes on the same day each week of the growing season. They mow at the right height for the time of year, string trim around beds and trees, edge the walks and drive, and blow everything clean before they leave.
You don't need to be home, and you don't need to check. When something looks off, the crew flags it, so a dry patch or a broken sprinkler head gets seen in a week rather than a month. Weekly mowing and our lawn fertilization program are run by the same team, so neither one undoes the other.
A proven 7-step turf health program
Mowing keeps a lawn neat. What keeps it thick is feeding and weed control timed to St. Louis seasons. Essentials includes all seven steps of our turf health program, starting with a soil test sent to the University of Missouri Extension so we know what your lawn actually needs.
Pre-emergent feed to stop crabgrass before it comes up, then a weed spray for anything that slipped through.
Grub control ahead of the hatch, and a summer feed that keeps the grass green through the heat.
Starter fertilizer, then core aeration and overseeding to thicken thin areas.
A slow-release winterizer the roots store through dormancy, so the lawn wakes up strong.
The month-by-month calendar and every blend are on the lawn fertilization page. For how fall lawn aeration and top dressing work, see that page too.
Seasonal transitions made simple
The two weekends most people lose to the yard are the first warm one in spring and the last one before the leaves are done. Essentials covers both ends of the season.
Spring cleanup
Winter debris cleared from the lawn and beds, perennials cut back, and bed edges recut so everything is reset before growth starts.
Fall cleanup or seasonal flowers
Pick a fall cleanup to clear leaves and put the beds to bed for winter, or seasonal flowers for color by the door. Need more leaf removal than one visit? See leaf cleanup.
Annual mulch installation
Fresh mulch is the quickest way to make a whole property look looked after. We lay it across your beds each spring, after the cleanup, so the edges are crisp and the color is even.
It does real work too. A good layer holds moisture through a St. Louis summer, keeps roots cooler, and smothers a lot of the weeds that would otherwise come up between your plants.
Professional oversight from your Garden Estate Manager
Every Essentials property has a Garden Estate Manager, one named person who knows your yard. They walk it with you twice a year to check how the lawn, beds and irrigation are doing, and to plan what comes next. In between, you can text our office about anything, and your manager follows up.
You don't have to manage the crew. That's their job.
Is GEM Essentials right for you?
Essentials is professional lawn care plus the seasonal basics, run on a schedule you never have to think about. It suits most St. Louis yards. Some properties need more.
A good fit if
- The lawn is the main event, with beds around the house and along the edges
- You want one provider and one schedule instead of three
- You'd rather not be home, or be asked, for routine visits
Probably not the right fit if
- Your garden has layered plantings that need hands in the beds through the season
- You want seasonal color in spring, summer and fall, not just one round
- The property has pools, water features or lighting that need regular care
What people ask before they sign up
What happens in winter? +
Weekly visits stop when the grass goes dormant, and the winterizer in November is the last turf step of the year. Your Garden Estate Manager is still a text away, and winter is a good time to plan anything you'd like done in spring.
Can I switch from another company mid-season? +
Yes, and plenty of clients start that way. We'll walk the property, find out what's already been applied this year, and pick up the turf program at whichever step makes sense. Weekly mowing starts as soon as we have you on a route.
Is there a lot size limit? +
There's no hard cutoff, but price follows the size of the lawn and beds. We measure at the assessment and give you a number before anything starts. Larger or more involved properties are often better served by Premier or Concierge, and we'll tell you if that's the case.
